I know a lot of mechanics take a loss on oil changes and they make it up by pushing repairs. This is shady so I don’t think they should lower prices to $30 but perhaps change it to $60 like other places, even though they are using much better oil (Mobil 1).
One thing impressed me on like my 2nd visit. Prospect saw that my tire valve caps were missing and put on new ones without asking. Didn't even put a note that they did it. Pretty impressive, no?
GREAT PRICES. Unlike others, I go through the trouble of comparing prices by going through old invoices. (I know I’m anal.) Prospect’s prices are really good. Actually, I think they might be too low; they can raise their prices a little bit. (I know this comment might hurt me but I like to be honest and tell it like it is.)
These are greatest car guys I have ever interacted with. They're helpful, considerate, knowledgeable, and honest. After one visit, I became a regular customer.
Good service, worth spending my money there. Staff as always helpful, friendly and they job is excellent.
Good service and decent pricing. Pretty satisfied.
QUALITY. I haven’t had enough experience with them to make a true definitive statement (about 1 year). But they seem like they know what they’re doing, they get things done right away and they seem pretty organized. One thing that gets me scared is that they are so busy (I guess word spread about them), but they still seem to be sticking to their original good service.
Recently, I found Prospect Exxon and these guys look like the real deal. Time will tell if I am right but they seem like good guys you can trust. (eg. I requested brakes to be replaced and they insisted that it was unnecessary.)
One thing that they might change is perhaps their oil change prices. I only checked for synthetic but Prospect had one of the highest oil change prices, even higher than some dealers. I’m guessing that this is the first and sometimes the only thing that some customers look at when comparing mechanics. So a lot of prospective customers might get the impression that Prospect is very expensive when they are not all.
If you're looking for a mechanic who is technically proficient, honest, and has great prices, go here. You won't go wrong.
HONEST. After I moved a few years ago, I’ve been looking for an honest mechanic that lives near me. I’ve tried a lot of different places and I’ve literally caught each one of them cheating me. In my opinion, the problem is that it’s just too easy for mechanics to claim work that’s not required or charge for work that they didn’t even do. It’s just low-hanging fruit. So it’s really hard to find an honest person in this industry.
Went to get quite for muffler replacement. It was 700+ (firestone had cheaper by over 100 dollars for the items this place said to replace. Otherwise, Firestone wanted to replace everything and charge arms, legs and then some more.)
